Maiden voyage was on April 3rd, 2004. This ship is slightly larger than the other ships in this class including the Star Princess, Golden Princess, and Grand Princess. This is due to the extra deck of cabins, called the Riviera Deck.

Nightly entertainment can be found at one of the many lounges and bars on board. The Princess Caribbean Theater hosts grand productions, workshops, seminars, and game shows. The Wheelhouse bar is a piano bar, The Piazza Atrium features live performances, Crooners Lounge & Bar has live music, Explorers Lounge & Bar is a disco and show lounge, and the Club Fusion Lounge is a Disco and Nightclub. There is also a Casino, Library, and internet cafe.
Children and teens will have plenty to do at their very own age-appropriate clubs. There are supervised activities as well as a video games arcade, outdoor movie screen, outdoor playing area with paddling pool, and 3 separate pool areas as well as an aquapark. There is also a sports court with volleyball, basketball, mini golf, and a Cybergolf simulator.
Adults will enjoy some private time at The Sanctuary or the Spa complex which includes a beauty salon and fitness center.
During drydock 3/26 to 4/5/17 upgrades included changing youth center to Camp Discovery, a higher resolution movie screen, princess luxury beds, adding 87 interconnecting cabins. Dining changes included adding Planks BBQ, Steamers Seafood to aft of deck 14 in place of Café Caribe. The Salty Dog Grill replaced Trident Grill, Slice replaced Pizzeria, Coffee & Cones replaced Scoops, and The Mix replaced Blackbeards Bar. Horizon Court became World Fresh Marketplace.
During drydock June 2019 changes were made to aft of deck 17 including a Game Zone (Oversized Jenga and Cornhole) and Splashpad Water Playground (Sprays and splash pool). There were also a variety of new restaurants added at this time and the staterooms were updated.
