Most modern cruise ships need to be dry docked for inspection, maintenance and class surveys every five years and once they reach 15 years of age they need to be dry docked at least twice within a five-year period. Dry docks typically last up to 14 days at a cost of up to $2 million per day and involve regular maintenance including hull cleaning, exterior painting of the structure, inspection of pipes, restoration of exterior deck flooring, and installation of enhanced HVAC filter systems

Azura is one of the largest cruise ships in the P&O Cruises fleet. It was built in 2010. Azura offers an incredible choice of bars, restaurants, sports and spa facilities and entertainment, plus lots of other exciting and unique features. There are 1557 staterooms on board, with the largest being the Penthouse Suites.

At the heart of Azura cruise ship is her atrium, a very social venue located over three magnificent decks, with a café, art gallery, bookshop, library and shopping. In the evenings you are invited to take your partner and dance the night away on a beautifully polished dance floor. Dancing is very popular on this ship, and it has 3 different dance floors as well as ballroom dancing lessons. The music and dance theme continues in The Playhouse theatre with West End style shows, and in Manhattan, Azuras New York inspired show lounge. Also in the evenings guests can enjoy watching a movie on the outdoor LED screen, trying their luck at the casino, or checking out one of the lounges and bars on board, most of which that offer live entertainment.

During the day, guests can enjoy time at the Spa and Health Club, the Terrace pool, gymnasium, or one of the sports courts or golf net cages. The Retreat is an alfresco spa terrace designed exclusively for adults, offering treatments under airy cabanas and beneath moonlit skies. Azuras Spa Staterooms offer priority access to these facilities and for independent travelers, theres perfectly proportioned single staterooms. On Lido Deck, Sea Screen is an open air cinema screening comedy classics, British film favorites and Hollywood blockbusters.

Children will enjoy time at their own kids and teens clubs that offer supervised age-appropriate activities as well as separate kids venues (The Beach Hut; Frontiers; The Hub; The Sea Bed), and a video arcade and lounge.

Dining also takes center stage on board. In addition to three main restaurants offering a choice of Club Dining - the same table at the same time each evening, and Freedom Dining - no fixed seating or dining times, theres the opportunity to visit the Select Dining venues of Sindhu; the first restaurant at sea from Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar, Seventeen; where a sense of occasion is always on the menu, and The Glass House, a wine bar and restaurant created in partnership with TVs Olly Smith. For more casual options, there is also the Poolside Grill, the Verona Food Court, and the pizza and ice cream bar as well as 24-hour room service.

In 2015, the ship underwent a refurbishment that brought new water pipes, and new furnishings in the corridors, staircases, and main restaurants; and the ships hull was repainted as part of a fleet-wise rebranding.
