Most modern cruise ships need to be dry docked for inspection, maintenance and class surveys every five years and once they reach 15 years of age they need to be dry docked at least twice within a five-year period. Dry docks typically last up to 14 days at a cost of up to $2 million per day and involve regular maintenance including hull cleaning, exterior painting of the structure, inspection of pipes, restoration of exterior deck flooring, and installation of enhanced HVAC filter systems

This ship was originally one of the eight ships ordered by Renaissance Cruise Line before it went out of business.

The 30,000 GRT, 710-passenger Celebrity Journey joined the Celebrity fleet in May 2007. The Celebrity Journey sailed as the Blue Dream of Pulmantur, which was acquired by Celebritys parent company RCI in late 2006.

In Jan 2013 Journey received upgrades to the sun deck (new Astro-Turf, sun beds). Discoveries Restaurant, Discoveries Lounge and Mosaic Café were refurbished with new carpets and re-upholstered furniture. Windows Café received new furniture upholstery, carpet and tile. Fitness equipment in the gym was replaced.

During 2016 dry dock cabins received new furnishings, tvs, closet doors. Spa was updated with new treatment rooms and salon. Two new Spa Suites were added to Deck 9.

There are 355 staterooms total with the largest being the World Owners Suite and 4 elevators connect all the decks. This ship is not recommended for families with children.

Even though it is a small ship, there are plenty of dining options on board. The main dining room is called Discoveries Restaurant and it serves all 3 meals. The Windows Cafe also serves all day but it is a little more casual with a buffet and indoor/outdoor seating. The Pool Grill serves the outdoor area for lunch only and it is complimentary as well. There are 2 specialty restaurants called Aqualina and Prime C. They are both open for dinner only, and reservations are recommended.

Daily activities include trivia sessions, origami, and Bridge. In the evenings, the main entertainment can be found at the Cabaret Lounge, but the shows are limited. There is also a casino, Looking Glass observation lounge, The Drawing Room (library), and the Mosaic Cafe which becomes a nightclub in the evenings.

There is also a Spa, Gym, walking track, Acupuncture Room, Pool Area, and duty free shopping.

Most voyages leave from Miami, FL and go to the Caribbean.
